News and new flavours

Getting tough!

My almost-vegan Uni-Child has a thing or two to say about most things in our terrible family; for instance my fifteen year old son's eating habits which have not advanced from nursery years, and even then didn't include the obligatory pea.  Now only pure meat (and fruit scones of course, Amen) will go down his hatch without a fight or a disguised feeding to the dog.

Fearing Uni-Child's disapproval, I have got strict with him ('Eat the healthy balanced meal I've prepared son!  If you don't like it, tough!! OH YEAH!!'). So his diet is now only fruit scones (Amen) and the occasional entire pan of bacon, as this is the only foodstuff worth coming off the computer long enough to cook. And there we have it, parental boundaries tickety-boo, son heading for heart disease. Grrrrrreat!!!!

New On This Week:

Coffee with Coffee Chocolate Liquor Sauce
Brown sugar creamy coffee ice cream with a coffee liquor sauce.

Pink Grapefruit Sorbet
Pretty pink grapefruit sorbet hits the spot.

Wah Wah Wah

Yesterday was my 50th.  I don't like a fuss at birthdays, but none of my four children had said 'Happy Birthday' to me by mid-afternoon.  I was hurt.  Me who does everything for those children (the narrative ran), who loves them with my heart and soul, who doesn't ask for fancy presents, Oh Misery Me Oh Wah Wah Wah.  I quite got into it.  And I couldn't (or wouldn't) snap out of it.  Perhaps lady-hormones were fuelling this malaise, but I didn't like that idea muddying the waters; I wanted the pure pain of being forgotten, a mere servant shuffling around the edges of their lives, Wah Wah Wah-de-Wah..

Lucky for me they pulled the stops out hug-wise in the evening and turned things around for martyr mum. Our Too Too Moo take-away was convivial enough, and the day was topped off in the usual way - making ice cream for you lovely people, which is a great therapy, yum yum.

New On This Week:

Butter Popcorn
Deliciously creamy buttery popcorn ice cream, the flavour is exactly popcorn, no bits - never made this before and I'm really pleased with it.

Fresh Ginger
Ginger infused and squeezed into syrup and cream. An old fave.

Fruits of the Forest Pavlova
A deep fruity ice cream of raspberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, redcurrant with chunks of meringue in there.

Hello Personnes de la Creme de la Glace!!

No time for blurb today, as Archie has a hair appointment.  He is to turn from sheep to greyhound, snippety-snip-snip-snip, within the hour!! He has social anxiety, so don't laugh at him.

Next Weekend I am not emailing, as my freezer, and therefore my life will be full of Highgate Wood's Summer Fair (Madfest) pots.  You, dear customer, will have to make do with pot luck ho ho.

Now, Ice Cream-wise...

Fruit Scones

Dear  Gobblers of The Ice

I hope you are enjoying the glorious hot weather!
My eldest daughter has returned from uni with her vegan lifestyle. I thought I'd join in for a bit but soon chose butter over bonding. Regardless, our home is a cloud of onion frizzling, tomato-ish bubbling, and windy bums, dawn till dusk. Of course she is horrified at her fifteen year old brother's diet of bacon and fruit scones...but he could have been into fags, fashion and filching by now; a boy whose happiness is complete as long as there's a fruit scone to hand must be a blessing.

Hi Slurpers!

I hope you are having a gorgeous week.

We (me, hub, two teens, one refusal) survived three nights (which is four days) together this week in Weymouth, in my Dad's unmodernised house.  No WIFI, so pleased to report no actual physical scars, just psychological - sudden withdrawal from full-time screening took its toll on the poor babies, who mooned silently around the place, slumping briefly infront of BBC News South West (no DVD player, no catch up facility) before wandering off again.  I haven't seen either child since Tuesday when we got back as they are busy recharging their brains with FIFA and Zoella.  It was close; another day and they might have read a book or worse.

Archie (dog) was more nuts than usual in Weymouth, guarding the whole house all night (grrrrr grrrrr).  And, not the brightest star in the sky, he never worked out that the front and side doors of the house led to the self same garden, so would go out of one for a pee, come in then cry to be let out the other door, to go to that (same) garden.  But it's ok, we punished him for his two pronged personality defects - defensive and daft - by forcing him to climb a vertical rock face from the sea to safe land - that was during one of our lovely coastal walks, during which the children didn't moan one bit, indeed they thanked me for taking them to the sea air and beautiful countryside.

Ice Cream-wise...
